Boudoir is for everyBODY

Chicas, it's easy to fall into the trap of constantly comparing ourselves to others and feeling self-conscious about our bodies. Society's narrow beauty standards often leave us feeling like we're not thin enough, not young enough, or not "perfect" enough. But we can change that narrative. We can all play a part in what the media shows through living it ourselves. I want to show you that everybody is beautiful, no matter what size or age, through a photoshoot! Stay with me…

Ok, so a portrait sounds fine, but why do a boudoir shoot, if you are not a size 2 or under 30?

Most of us think of boudoir as the type of shoot women do when they are close to perfect, and let me tell you… nothing is further from the truth. Did you know all women (no matter size or age) have some body issues? We all have things we don’t love about our bodies, be it dimples on thighs, small breasts, or a little loose skin in the waistline after babies, the reality is that boudoir is not for the perfect body but for everybody. Why? Because the more we see ourselves, the more we love and accept ourselves. This is why clients come to me, it's a chance to embrace your body and remember that it is a work of art. I’m gonna say that louder for people in the back- YOUR BODY IS ART.

Here’s a few reasons my clients have had in the past for doing a boudoir shoot:

1. Your body is strong and capable.

Your body is an amazing machine, capable of incredible feats of strength and endurance. It's easy to get caught up in society's focus on thinness and forget that our bodies are capable of so much more than just looking good, no matter what size it is.

2. Your worth is not determined by your appearance.

Your worth as a person is not determined by your appearance or your dress size. You are valuable and worthy just as you are, and it's time to start treating yourself with the love and respect that you deserve. Wear that bikini or crop top, if it makes you feel beautiful!

3. Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

Society's narrow beauty standards often leave us feeling like we have to conform to a certain body type in order to be considered beautiful. Did you know that 78% of girls are unhappy with their bodies by the time they reach seventeen? It’s not about how you look but the standards that keep being put out by the media, and we can change that. Embrace your unique body and celebrate its beauty and strength.

4. Your body is art.

Boudoir photography is a powerful way to remember that your body is a work of art. It's a chance to celebrate your curves and imperfections, and to show off your body in a way that is confident and beautiful. Many clients opt for albums and wall art to ensure that the empowering feeling they felt during their shoot is continued every day in their home.

5. Embracing your body boosts your self-confidence.

It's no secret that feeling self-conscious about our bodies can take a toll on our self-confidence. But when we learn to embrace our bodies and love ourselves just as we are, it can have a huge impact on our self-esteem and confidence.

So how can you start embracing and loving your body, no matter what size or age? Here are a few tips to get you started:

1. Take care of yourself.

One of the best things you can do to embrace your body is to practice self-love and self-care. This might mean taking a relaxing bubble bath and finding features you love about your body, walking around naked more often, going for a walk or run to clear your mind instead of doing the dishes or laundry, or indulging in your favorite hobbies (wine counts?). But, also, eat heathy and drink water- you’d be surprised at how much better it can make you feel!

2. Surround yourself with positive influences.

It's important to surround yourself with people who support and appreciate you for who you are. Women that lift you up, partners that love your body, no matter how it looks, and friends that have conversations deeper than their looks or material things. This might mean expanding your circle for a more inclusive community, taking those Flamenco lessons, or simply following body positivity accounts.

3. Every body is unique and everyone struggles with some degree of body issues!

Yes, even the fit, skinny girls- trust me, I photograph them and they have the same insecurities we all do. The biggest negative influence? Ourselves. Don’t say things to yourself that you wouldn’t say to a friend you adore. Every body is different, and that's what makes us all so special and unique. Girl, life’s too short to wait until we have the “right” size, since there is no such thing as a "perfect" body.

4. Show it off!

It’s never too late to feel beautiful, strong and sexy. A photoshoot is more transformative than you think.

Every. single. client says, “This was so much fun, I wish I had done this before”

Don’t wait.

Ci vediamo in studio!
