Travels and dreams

I dreamed of traveling to Italy since the pandemic began. For some reason, as soon as travel was restricted, I longed to go back to my roots and visit places where I have family (Argentina) or where I used to live (Milan). So, when, in October Donatella Nicolini , whom I met a few years ago at a photography conference, announced a March maternity and motherhood workshop in Milan- I signed up! Then, March came and travel was still restricted so it got pushed back to September. All this to say, I went and it was everything I dreamed. I missed traveling by myself, dreaming about all that I could do, and breathing in the art and beauty of Europe.

As I continue to work on my craft and hone in on my style, it’s important to me that I align myself with educators and photographers that have similar values and inspirations as I do. This also made me realize that, in my many years of shooting, I had never myself paid for a photoshoot. I had never myself experienced what my clients had. Self portraits, sure but I had not felt the insecurities my clients feel with someone else behind the lens. I had dreamed for a long time of booking a shoot with an amazing photographer turned mentor, Kara Marie, knowing she had moved to Lake Como (45min train ride from Milan), so I sent her an email and prayed for a response! She did not disappoint.

I did not lose the weight I swore I would lose.

It was nerve-wracking.

I felt beautiful.

She told me exactly what to do.

Basically, it confirmed all the things my clients tell me, but this last sentence was one that I will forever remember.

It was expensive, but I am worth it.

Treat yourself to a photoshoot. The weight and nerves should never stop you, never hold you back from designing the shoot of your dreams to be seen how you want. You are worth it, it may be expensive.

Mine happened to be in Milan, where I became a real adult and learned another language decades go, with little clothes in the studio of my dreams. What would yours look like?
